
Chronic Stress and Nature Connection

The common denominator of all problems is an experience of stress!
Whatever problem you are struggling with, it is sure to be a cause of stress for you and this certainly applies to living with chronic conditions.
Whether you suffer from physical pain, chronic disease, mental health issues or a combination of those, chronic conditions contribute significantly to your stress levels.
But little daily things can also add to your stress levels considerably, and these may hit you even harder because you are already dealing with your chronic conditions. It may be significantly more challenging for you to even do some of the daily tasks due to physical pain. Or you may just have very little energy.
Let’s take a look at those daily stressors and their effects for a moment:
Is your diary too full? Are you running around taking care of everybody’s needs? Everybody always wants a piece of you? Is life just too busy? ‘Just’ the typical modern day life stress. ‘Just’ little things that seem insignificant by themselves piling up, day after day, week after week, year after year… ‘just’ a constant background stress?
Are you always ‘on’ and unable to relax? Or does all the pressure make you feel like you can’t bring yourself to do much, even though you think you should?
Perhaps you feel guilty to take more time for self care? So you put on that smile for the outside world and keep going … but on the inside you’re suffering. You feel frustrated, anxious, guilty. And your self confidence is lacking so you don’t speak up and make a change.
And this situation has you worry about your well-being even more. About the impact of this extra chronic stress on your health, your relationships … If only you had more energy … then everything would be okay.
